Answers To Life Seem To Come My Way
Just When I Need Them Most

Sometimes answers to life issues just seem to come my way. Sometimes I don't even realize it until later, has that ever happened to you? It all seems so - coincidental. But I don't think it actually is.

Hi, my name is Teresa Hubert and I have always been a bit of an idealist.

I see things in black and white - up or down, yes or no, true or false, though I have learned that there are shades of gray sometimes.

It doesn't mean I think you're wrong if you don't do what I do, or if you don't agree with me. Everyone is different, with their own unique path to travel.

But when I really need the answers, they come.

Like, Who Needs Morning Sickness?

I had no idea that I could feel better or worse, depending on what I ate. I was pregnant with my first baby and I had no idea that what I ate could help me not to have morning sickness, stretch marks, leg cramps etc.

But I just "happened" to have a friend who "happened" to have a book called "Let's Have Healthy Children". The author wrote this book in the 60s, I think, way before people thought nutrition was an issue.

People didn't even realize that how you feed your baby can affect how many colds they get when they're little! Amazing to think about now. But the author, Adele Davis, considered that any pregnancy "problem" was not necessary, and with proper nutrition, it would go away. And I thought, "Why have problems if you don't have to?" I found her ideas worked and that was my first step into the world of nutrition.

The "Accidental" Nutritionist

Then later, not one, but two of my daughters were sick with chronic fatigue, and the younger one also had fibromyalgia. I looked for answers in the regular medical system, but they only had an "it's all in your head" kind of answer.

My husband at the time was involved in a business networking group, and he came home one day and said, "Teresa, I met someone today you might be interested in." A nutritionist who used to have chronic fatigue herself had come to the meeting. We got together with her and she worked with us for a number of months. Her name was Nancy, and we still call it "the Nancy diet."

I found out later that she had meant to go to a completely different business networking group and had come to this one "by accident". Sure, it was an "accident" lol. Another of those answers.

The Zone Diet? What's That?

A bit of time went by. I was always looking for more answers. I "dialed up" my internet (remember that?) and found a fibromyalgia "message board" (and remember that? memory lane here). A number of people were sharing how much the Zone Diet was helping them. I had never heard of that, so I left my own little message asking what it was. I was directed to Dr. Barry Sears and several books he had written about what he called "The Zone Diet."

He was looking for his own answers. His father had died of a heart attack. His uncles had died of heart attacks. His older cousins were dying of heart attacks. He thought, "I am genetically programmed to die an early death from heart disease unless I can figure this out."

He learned about the importance of enough protein, and the importance of having the right balance of protein to carbs to healthy fats. He was pretty much a lone voice at the time, the first one I'm aware of to talk about what we could now call a "Low Carb High Fat Diet". There's way more science than I can repeat here, but he found his answers, and he's doing just fine today, thank-you very much. But he found that if you treat your food like medicine, and take the perfect prescribed amount, just like medicine, you will be "in the Zone". He was even brought in to help with the Stanford University swimming team and to put the team members on the Zone diet. They were "in the Zone" while practising and "in the Zone" for their competitions and they won first place that year.

So he found the Zone Diet was the answer to heart disease, then he found it worked also for diabetes, my new friends online were finding it was working for fibromyalgia, and then I found it even helps ADD! Eating Zone is extremely helpful for focusing in school or at work.

I was working in a bank a few years ago and at Christmas, all kinds of chocolates and candies and goodies would be brought in. I knew that if I ate them, my focus would be shot, and I'd be likely to make money and banking errors which would be really bad. I really didn't want to make mistakes, so I refused to eat them. Everyone thought I was "so disciplined", "good for you!" they said, they didn't realize what a strong motivator the fear of making mistakes was!

I Love Helping Others Find Answers

I came across Strategic Intervention with Robbins Madanes Training. You wants answers? They've got answers! I took their training and learned how to help others find answers as well. Do you know that there are simple strategies that can sort out almost any problem 80% of the time? Easy once you know how! Some issues are more complex, though.

After reading my site, you know the type of person I am. If you have a question you need an answer for, I'd love for you to ask me and to see if I can help you.

Then I Found StrengthsFinder!

StrengthsFinder is a really cool little program that identifies your five top strengths. What's in it for you? You will find more fulfillment, more enjoyment, more success and have more fun if you are working out of your strengths.

I can hear you now, "Oh, I don't have any strengths." Oh, yes, you do. But they don't feel like strengths to you because they're so easy. You know when you're doing something and the hours just fly by? And you're enjoying yourself? You're working in your strengths.

It helps you to understand yourself and others as well. We have a person in our church who is really, really good at big events. She is able to get everyone helping, and for example, we did a kids program centered on a Mount Everest theme. She had the whole church decorated with waterfalls and caves and mountains and snowflakes, the program was fantastic and everyone had fun. I could never do that.

But she misses details. The microphone is there, but who is running the sound board? Where is the cord? Do you have the right number of snacks for the kids? I can do those details. But I could never run the whole program.

When everyone works in their strengths, you can work together, and everything is smoother, everyone is happier and no one is frustrated. It could be easy to be frustrated with my friend who missed making sure the cord was there for the mike. Instead, let her do what she's good at, and I'll do what I'm good at.

I love helping others to discover their strengths. You can choose to go anytime to the StrengthsFinder site and take the evaluation. You need to buy the book that explains a lot more about Strengths and the code is inside. The evaluation itself takes about 30 - 40 minutes. It's so worth it and so interesting. Although you might find the questions seem a little wonky, just answer them and they do their magic. You'll be amazed. I am a StrengthsFinder Adviser as well, if you contact me with your email and the password that you set at StrengthsFinder, I can check out what your strengths and go through it with you. There is no cost for this, I just enjoy it. We could Skype or talk over the phone. And you can always change your password again after if you like. At least check it out!
